Follicle Follies

Well, so far it seems that my new meds are working. I have at least 2 follicles of the right size. This is the first time that has happened in almost 18 months of trying with meds. So, let's hope that one of the 2 takes, since 1 alone hasn't been getting the job done. But, like usual, it took mine longer than "average" to get to the right size. No big surprise there. So, say a prayer and keep your fingers crossed that it will ALL work this time.

Update on Me

I went in today for my one week post-op appointment. The Dr. said everything looks great and is healing well. I have no restrictions on any activities and I will be at StrollerFit Wednesday. They found nothing major during my procedures and he thinks that my issues can be solved with stronger meds. Which I get to start ASAP. For those of you worrying that I am going to be an "octo-mom", don't. I am so far away from that even being a possibility. With this new medicine, my chances of having twins only increases by like 5% and believe me at this point 2 at once is better than none at all. The other people I know who have taken this medicine and gotten pregnant are having only one baby. So, let's keep our fingers crossed and pray that we have a good outcome this time around. :)

Follicle Follies

Well, again this isn't really a follicle folly, but it is related. Some of you already know that I am going in on Friday, for a very minor surgical procedure. My Dr. thinks that I A) may have scar tissue in my uterus from the miscarriage and/or from the D&C . B) With all the tissue build up before the miscarriage some of it may have leaked out my fallopian tubes and attached to the outside of my uterus and tubes. So, he is going to use a camera to take a look at the inside and outside of my uterus and "clean" anything off that needs it. The nurse told me I should be back to my regular home routine in 3 days and most people get cleared for exercise after their 1 week post op appointment. I will probably be taking it easy for at least a week so, I won't be at SF or RTC. I was original suppose to go in on the 17th, but it was postponed a week.

Follicle Follies

Wow, it seems like it has been forever since I actually got to write one of these post that was about a follicle. Well, this time around it is looking good. I have one of the right size! Now it is the waiting game to see if everything else falls into line. Of course it wasn't ready on Friday when I initially went in for my scan (no big surprise there). It wasn't ready on Monday either when I went back for scan #2, but it was bigger so that was a good sign. Then, finally, on Tuesday, when I went back for scan # 3 it was ready. YAY! So, now all the other steps in the TTC process need to happen and maybe it will work this time around. So, say a prayer for me/us. ;)

Follicle Follies

You may have noticed (or maybe not) that there was no Follicle Follies for December. That's because there wasn't. The timing for that month wasn't going to be easy. The "magic" time was going to be right around Christmas and the Dr.'s office was closed that week and I couldn't be monitored, so we didn't take any meds that month. Not a total waste. I did have and HSG test done to make sure I didn't have any blockage or scaring from the miscarriage or the D&C. Again that test was normal (I had one when I was trying to get pregnant with Andrew in 2005). So, now it is back to the waiting game. Waiting to start, waiting for meds, waiting to see if they work.......

This past year and a half has been tough. It has been one year since we started to TTC with a doctor's help. Fourteen months since we started TTC after the miscarriage. Almost 2 years since we decided to start trying for baby #2, right around the time Andrew was going to turn 1. Technically, that did work an I did get pregnant within 3 months of trying on my own, but it didn't last. :( Needless to say, after all this time I am a little frustrated. Trying not to be, that can be counter productive, but what can I say...I thought I would be starting to try for baby #3 by now and not still trying for #2. I know that it will "happen in time" and it has to "be in God's time", and so on. That doesn't make it any easier. If I can ever get this cycle started, maybe I will get an extra special birthday present ;)

Just wanted to say thanks to everyone who has been following me on this. For your prayers, support and for listening to me when I needed it. Hopefully, soon we can be talking baby :)

Follicle Follies

So you may have noticed (or maybe not) that there was no Follicle Follies last month. Well, there was no follicle so there was nothing to tell. This cycle is looking to be the most promising one yet. Grant it I did have to go in for 3 scans, but I guess the 3rd times the charm and I have a nice big follicle. Now I will get my shot and hope it does what it is suppose to. I went in 3 times when I got pregnant with Andrew so, let's hope that is a trend. This cycle I did take an LH booster in addition to all my other meds, so that may have done the trick. Keep your fingers crossed and say a prayer for me that is works. Officially I have been trying for one year since the miscarriage and 1 year and 8 months total since I decided to try for baby #2. I am way past ready for this to work.

Follicle Follies

So, went in for yet another follicle scan and again, I have only one of the right size. Which is good. This one was plenty big, 2.8, so that is promising. I go into the office now and everyone knows me by name, and it is a big office with like 5 doctors there. Now I am just playing the waiting game yet again.

My Husband is the Best!

Marc surprised me the other day with a great gift; a night away. Very unexpected! He had made all the arrangements to have my aunt watch Andrew for a night while we took a little trip to Shreveport. We stayed at the Horseshoe Casio Hotel and had a great time. When we got there Marc had book a massage and a facial for me, yay! It was so nice to get to relax and be pampered. We had soooo much fun. Marc even doubled our gambling money by the time we left and that led our rooms and meals being comped; even better!

We both like playing table games and that usually means that you get to talk a bit to the people at the table with you. Well, the first night we met a retired Secret Service Agent. He actually had been on Nixon's Presidential detail. How cool was that. He was doing very well at the table and then did something that shocked everyone. He gave everyone playing at the table a $100! Can you believe that? How very generous!

Later that night night we met an older lady for the metorplex area. She was very nice and easy to talk to. Now that lady was serous about her being there to gamble. We (Marc mostly) played at or around table with her all night. Then the next afternoon after we'd checked out and ate lunch we went back to play a bit before heading home, she was still there. Yes, sitting at the same table, playing the same game and in the same clothes! After we sat down next to her she said "I can sleep when I am home, I am here to have a good time". She hadn't even left to go eat. Her friend came to check on here and ask if she'd eaten and she told her she would go in a bit. Um, I don't think her friend meant eating the olives out of her bloody mary, that was also what she had been drinking the night before. Luckily, in my opinion, there weren't very strong drinks there. She was very nice though and fun to talk to.

I can't say how nice and needed this little daycation was. I am grateful to Marc for doing this for me. Especially right now. If you read my Follicle Follies, you know why. Let's hope we weren't just lucky gambling. ;) I am sure that was part of his motivation in doing this, taking a bit of the stress out of TTC this time.

Meanwhile, Andrew had a blast at his GAM's house. He just loves her little dog Scooter. She told me that whatever they did Andrew would ask "Scooter come too?". How cute is that? He even slept in a big boy bed while he was there. Good to know he can do it, but I am not ready to release him from "jail" at home just yet. He is going to be there until I need the crib for someone else.

Now it is back to reality, even if I was only gone for one night. I LOVE you Marc, thanks!

Follicle Follies

Went in today for yet another follicle scan. Again I have one of the right size, got my shot and now have to play the waiting game. At least this time I didn't have to drive all over the place to find my shot. However, it is still not "the good stuff" and I am convinced that is the problem. Looking on the bright side at least I am making a follicle. We will just have to pray that it works this time. I am getting to know the sonogram tech pretty good by now. Well, I have seen her at least once (sometimes 3 times) a month for the last 8 months.

Follicle Follies

So, went in yesterday for yet another follicle scan. Same dose as the last 2 times and again have one of the right size, and got my shot. Well, come to find out the hCG shot I got with Andrew and am really suppose to be getting is on manufacturer's back order. The shot I have been getting is like a different strain and isn't quite as strong. Apparently, according to my Dr., only fertility clinics can get it that do IVF. This dose is suppose to work for women taking my medicine Now I am starting to wonder if that is why "nothing happened" the last 2 times. I mean everything with me takes longer...so maybe I need the strong stuff??? Well, it's true. Most people on my meds get a follicle on day 14, not me, mine isn't usually "ripe" until day 16 or 20 or longer. Hence, why I sometimes have to go in 3 time. I will just have to keep positive, pray and trust that God knows what is best for me.

Follicle Follies

So, I went today for the follow up to Monday's appointment and one of the follicles is the right size! So, now we just have to pray that it works. I go in again next week to have my hormone levels checked.

Follicle Follies

So, I went to the Dr. today for another round of follicle scans and like usual, I have to go in again on Wednesday. This is my fourth round of scans and my seventh scan ( I usually have to go in multiple times each go around) total this year. Not too discouraging news, I mean at least 2 were there. These 2 are just not big enough yet to "do their job" . As my Dr. likes to say "you need to sit on these eggs a few more days". I am going to keep positive though; with Andrew, I had to go in 3 times and it worked. This just fits in with my theory that I am only fertile the last week of June through the second week of July. ;) Won't it be funny if it is true.
