What do horses eat?

Everyday when we go to swim lessons we drive by the Brinkman Ranch and the horses there. I usually ask Andrew all kinds of questions about horses like; what does a horse say and so on. There is one question Andrew can't quite get.

Me: Andrew what do horses eat?
Andrew: Hot dogs
Me:(laughing) No they don't. They eat grass called hay
Andrew: Grass! Hay!
Me: What do horses eat?
Andrew: Hot dogs!

I guess that must mean horses are cannibals. ;)

Follicle Follies

So, went in yesterday for yet another follicle scan. Same dose as the last 2 times and again have one of the right size, and got my shot. Well, come to find out the hCG shot I got with Andrew and am really suppose to be getting is on manufacturer's back order. The shot I have been getting is like a different strain and isn't quite as strong. Apparently, according to my Dr., only fertility clinics can get it that do IVF. This dose is suppose to work for women taking my medicine Now I am starting to wonder if that is why "nothing happened" the last 2 times. I mean everything with me takes longer...so maybe I need the strong stuff??? Well, it's true. Most people on my meds get a follicle on day 14, not me, mine isn't usually "ripe" until day 16 or 20 or longer. Hence, why I sometimes have to go in 3 time. I will just have to keep positive, pray and trust that God knows what is best for me.

Andrew Anecdotes

Andrew has really been cracking me up lately. First he has decided that clothes are optional. A few nights ago he was crying in his crib and we were ignoring him hoping he'd go to sleep. Well, after a while I finally decided that isn't the sleepy cry and something was up. I go in and he is naked in the crib, no PJ's, no diaper. He had unzipped his PJ's and taken off the diaper (like underwear). I couldn't help but laugh. I am just glad he was all "clean" on there. Well, the streaking continues. Every now and again I look and he is running around naked.

Here he is riding in the nude.

He has also been saying some really funny things. The other day he was telling me something about the floor. At first I thought he was saying he spit on the floor, but he kept going on and on. I finally asked him to show me and he was saying he "did the splits on the floor" and proceeded to do the splits. I have no idea where he got this from. I can't remember talking about the splits before. He may have learned it from "the people" while they were here. That is the only thing I can think of.

He has also started "singing'. If you ask him to sing he will, in a sing song voice, go "lalalalala". Then he starts to sing " 2 little monkeys swinging from the trees. Teasing Mr. Alligator can't catch me. Along comes an alligator, quiet as can be and... SNAPs that monkey out of the tree", but it sounds like this "lalalalalala, 2 monkeys, teasing alligator catch me. (then he whispers) along comes alligator (as he puts his finger to his lips) SNAP(as he claps his hands together)! No monkeys in tree." It is just so cute!

Potty Progress

He did it!!! Andrew pooped on the potty! The best part is he did it on his own. He had taken his training pants off and had been running around in the nude and came and told me "I pooped". Of course I thought he did it on the carpet. So, I told him to show me where it was and he took me to the potty chair and there it was. Now, I just hope he will do it all the time now. I really made a big deal at how happy I was that he did it. Yeah!!!

Thursday Thoughts

So my sister Kathrine and her family came to visit Andrew this week and he had a blast! He would call them all "the people". Every morning before he was fully awake he would ask "the people?" and I would tell him they are sleeping and then he would say "wake them up". He wanted "the people" to come everywhere with him even to go potty. He would be sitting on the potty and yell "come people, potty!". This morning they left before he woke up and of course he asked for "the people" and when I told him they were gone he he cried and wanted to go with them. After that I told him they were in El Paso with Grandma Patsy, he told me "see Grandma Passy (Patsy) too". It was so cute and he is going to miss them all sooooooo much.

We did a few things while they were here. Monday we tried to go to the science and history museum at Fair Park, but we went after Andrew's swim lesson and needless to say when we got there the museum was closing in 20 min. So, we at least go to see the last IMAX show of the day. Andrew sat through that pretty good. On Tuesday, everyone but Andrew went to Six Flags. The kids had a great time even though it was a little hot. Yesterday we went to the spray park and splashed in the water. Andrew had such a good time chasing the big kids around.

Now we are just getting ready for his Grandma Kate and Great Aunt Carol to arrive from Lubbock. They are going to be here for about 4 days. Yes, I know, a very busy week over here. At least this way, Andrew won't be as bored without all his cousins.

Weekend Window

We have been pretty busy this weekend getting ready for my sister's visit (kind of last minute), then Marc's mom's visit at the end of the week. So, I you can imagine I have been cleaning like crazy. In all my cleaning I finaly found Andrew's cross for his room. His Godmother gave it to him for his Baptism (2 years ago), and I could not remember where I had put it. I even started to question if he got one. You know how "mommy brain" is. I saw the box and was "ah-ha, there it is!" It feels good to know that I wasn't imagining things.

Andrew's newset thing is wanting to take a shower. Anytime we are in the master bathroom he says "Shower? Me too." He has even started taking off his clothes asking to shower. He is even trying to make it a family affair and want all 3 of us in the shower at once. We keep telling him we can't all fit. Though, it would save on the water bill. ;)

These pictures are of Andrew and Bruce playing under the crib. If you can't tell, Andrew is stacking blocks while under there.

Thursday Thoughts

I was going through some pictures the other day and found one on my 28th birthday, when I was 8 months pregnant with Andrew. I about died at how thin I looked! I know some of you know that I am opposite of everyone else and lost weight while I was pregnant (morning sickness, the best diet), I just didn't realize how much different I looked. I am going to post this to help motivate me to "put the food down". I haven't been working real hard at it lately because first I was pregnant, then I wasn't, and now I have been trying again for a while. No more telling myself "why diet, when you are just going to get pregnant and have to stop", well 9 months later I think I should have just started the diet. I am currently the same weight I was when I got pregnant with Andrew, so I am hoping the following pictures will help me keep on track.

Kirkland Look-alike Meter

Everyone tells me that Andrew looks just like Marc. Well, HA! He looks like the both of us. I have said from the beginning he is a good combination.

Splish Splash

Today we went to the splash park with our playgroup and Andrew had a blast! He loved running through the water and playing with all the kids. He would run and scream and jump in all the water. He wanted to follow all the big boys around and had to be reminded that he had to be gentle with the little guys. He also swung on the swings for a bit and had such a good time.

We also had our second swimming lesson. I will have to say, yesterday, he did much better. He is having no trouble with the swimming, it is with mommy not swimming too. He screamed bloody murder until it was time to "swim" under water, then he was just fine and relaxed and would swim. Then he would come up for air and all hell broke loose. I shouldn't have been surprised. Before we left for class I was telling him that he was going to go to swim school and he had to listen to his teacher. He would then ask me "mommy swim too?" and when I would say no he would tell me "not yet" meaning ,now I know, that he is not swimming without mommy swimming too. I hope he won't be like that tomorrow or for the next 4 weeks or so. At least he will be able to "swim and cry" at the same time.

Potty Progress

So, we have been potty training for about 2 weeks now (give or take) and Andrew is doing pretty well. He tells me every time he has to go #2, but has yet to do it on the potty. He is very good at telling me when he has to go potty when we are out and about; I think he just likes to see all those other potties. Now, at home, it is hit or miss. We have days where he tells me he needs to go potty and other days where it is one accident after another. As long as I am on top of the time, all is good, but it is easier for him to go when mommy remembers. Over all I am very surprised at how well he is doing. Now we just need to work on him telling ME every time he needs to go. I am sure the #2 part will come later. This is why I started now, that way I have a lot of time with nothing else going on to focus on him and take it slow and easy. I will probably decide in another 2 weeks to give it up for later. ;)

I've Been Tagged

I've Been Tagged. This is a fun little game that bloggers play. The rules are as follows:
1. Post the rules!
2. Answer the questions about yourself
3. At the end of the post, list 5-6 people you would like to tag and leave a comment on their blog letting them know
4. Let the person who tagged you know that you posted your answers.

So here goes....

1. What were you doing 10 years ago? I had just finished me second year of college and was back in El Paso.

2. What are 5 things on your to-do list today? A. Touch up the painting Marc did. B. Get the house ready for Marc’s mom and Aunt’s visit. C. Continue potty training. D. Go shopping for towels E. Go grocery shopping

3. What are some snacks you enjoy? Unfortunately, I love to snack. Popcorn, Jalapeno smoked almonds, and ice cream is my junk snack and my healthy snacks are apples and pineapples.

4. What would you do if you were a billionaire? Pay off the house and all the bills, take care of our families’ mortgages, make sure our parents were set up for the rest of their lives, travel all over the world, give to the Church, donate science equipment, computers, musical instruments and sporting equipment to needy schools, donate to charities that involve kids and the elderly, and probably (even thought I don’t need any more) get another dog and cat or 2, and so many other things I can’t even think of.

5. 5 places you have lived? El Paso, TX; Lubbock, TX; Charlottesville, VA; Dallas, TX; Frisco, TX

6. What are 5 jobs you have had? Don’t laugh: a security guard, assistant at SW Bell, Shop girl at Cracker Barrel, Teacher, Coached HS girl’s soccer, MS girl’s volleyball and softball

7. What is currently playing on your Ipod? I am like the only person on Earth without an Ipod. But, if I did it would be playing: Tubthumping, anything by George Strait, ABBA songs, Ahah’s Take on Me, Hey There, Delilah, 80’s music

8. What are the last 5-6 books you have read? Too bad I don’t have as much time to read now that I have Andrew, but I do get to read sometimes and Books on Audio are great: Punished by Rewards (currently), The Historian, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, World Without End, The Stand, Warlord

9. What are three of your bad habits? Just 3…. I bite my finger nails (gross, I know, but I can’t stop) I would rather sleep in 10 extra minutes than spend that time on doing my hair or make up stuff like that, I really need to cook more home made meals.

10. Who do you want to tag? If you read this...then you are tagged!

Aqua-Andrew

So, we took Andrew swimming yesterday and he loved it! He has no fear! He would jump in and go under water and want to do it again. He really freaked me out! I mean, he would get out of the pool and then run away from me so he could jump in open water. Hello!!! I couldn't believe it and all I could think about was what if he is around a pool without me, for whatever reason, he would just jump in and drowned! I think we better do swim lessons soon. Even with all that I am glad that he likes the water and willing to jump in and go under water. I just can't go swimming with him by myself. Luckily, Marc was with me yesterday and I would stay out of the pool and "herd" Andrew to jump to Marc. It really was a lot of fun.

Weekend Window

So, the long weekend is wrapping up. We really had a great weekend. Saturday, Marc decided he needed to paint the utility room and down stairs bathroom (he really only needed to paint the utility room). A while back one of Marc's red pens exploded in the utility room and it literally looked like a murder had taken place there. Since this was "his" project he got to paint it himself. For some reason painting rooms isn't my idea of a relaxing weekend together. Both rooms look really good. My job is just to do the touch ups.

Andrew has been cracking me up the past few days (besides driving me crazy, he has been a major grouch). His new thing is to say "not yet". Example: "Do you need to go potty?" "Not yet" "Time for Night-Night" "not yet". You get the picture.
He had good time looking for paint at Home Depot and every time we would stop he would say "buy it". Marc also showed him how to put his little football on the golf tee and kick it off. Which is good for me, now I don't have to hold it while he kicks. Believe me there are time when I want to pull a Lucy and yank the ball out at the last minute, but I can't, mommies have to be nice.

4th of July

We had a really nice 4th of July. We went to Frisco Freedom Fest in the afternoon and Andrew got to pet a cow. Elsie the Borden's Milk cow to be exact. He loved it! Then we just walked around the plaza, played toddler golf/soccer/basket ball, made a thank you video for our troops, and ate a snow cone. We didn't stay long. A lot of the activities that Andrew would have liked cost money and we didn't want to have to buy anything. Then we came home and BBQ hamburgers for my Aunt and Uncle. After dinner we walked to the Elm. school down the street and watched a really good fireworks show with one of the longest finales we've ever seen. Andrew would watch and say "pretty", "Ooh" and "Boom". We had a great day!

Andrew Anecdotes

So, Andrew woke up last night and wouldn't go back to sleep. I took him to our room where he kept asking for water, and drank a whole bottle. Then he tossed and turned all night and when he would, he kind of started talking in his sleep; crying and asking for a cookie. He did that at least 3 times in the wee hours of the morning. How funny that he was dreaming of cookies or of Cookie Monsters.

We also started potty training for real on Friday. He is doing ok; a bit inconsistent. He will go pee-pee every time I put him on the pot, but not always tell me when he has to go. Forget about going poop on the pot. He will tell me when he did that in his underwear though. Little steps.

Another thing Andrew has been doing lately is trying to do a head stand. I guess somersaults aren't' good enough now. The funny this is he can almost do one. He gets about half way up, balances then falls. Maybe it is time for gymnastics?
