My Husband is the Best!

Marc surprised me the other day with a great gift; a night away. Very unexpected! He had made all the arrangements to have my aunt watch Andrew for a night while we took a little trip to Shreveport. We stayed at the Horseshoe Casio Hotel and had a great time. When we got there Marc had book a massage and a facial for me, yay! It was so nice to get to relax and be pampered. We had soooo much fun. Marc even doubled our gambling money by the time we left and that led our rooms and meals being comped; even better!

We both like playing table games and that usually means that you get to talk a bit to the people at the table with you. Well, the first night we met a retired Secret Service Agent. He actually had been on Nixon's Presidential detail. How cool was that. He was doing very well at the table and then did something that shocked everyone. He gave everyone playing at the table a $100! Can you believe that? How very generous!

Later that night night we met an older lady for the metorplex area. She was very nice and easy to talk to. Now that lady was serous about her being there to gamble. We (Marc mostly) played at or around table with her all night. Then the next afternoon after we'd checked out and ate lunch we went back to play a bit before heading home, she was still there. Yes, sitting at the same table, playing the same game and in the same clothes! After we sat down next to her she said "I can sleep when I am home, I am here to have a good time". She hadn't even left to go eat. Her friend came to check on here and ask if she'd eaten and she told her she would go in a bit. Um, I don't think her friend meant eating the olives out of her bloody mary, that was also what she had been drinking the night before. Luckily, in my opinion, there weren't very strong drinks there. She was very nice though and fun to talk to.

I can't say how nice and needed this little daycation was. I am grateful to Marc for doing this for me. Especially right now. If you read my Follicle Follies, you know why. Let's hope we weren't just lucky gambling. ;) I am sure that was part of his motivation in doing this, taking a bit of the stress out of TTC this time.

Meanwhile, Andrew had a blast at his GAM's house. He just loves her little dog Scooter. She told me that whatever they did Andrew would ask "Scooter come too?". How cute is that? He even slept in a big boy bed while he was there. Good to know he can do it, but I am not ready to release him from "jail" at home just yet. He is going to be there until I need the crib for someone else.

Now it is back to reality, even if I was only gone for one night. I LOVE you Marc, thanks!

Wordless Wednesday ~ The Dryer

This made a cute picture, but I told him never to get in there again.

OUCH!

If you read my post yesterday you know that I cut my leg. Well, it turns out that some of the skin on the back of my leg is allergic (I guess) to the adhesive on band aids. The skin under one of the band aids I put on Monday night blistered, then came off when I took off the band aid! No wonder my leg hurt so much that night. The cut itself looks like nothing more than a scrape, but it sure bled a lot. Now, this only happened in one little spot (the closest to my inner leg) and not where any other of the band aids were. How strange, but I shouldn't be surprised, the skin on the inside of my upper arms is the same. It blisters under band aids, yet the skin on the outside of my arm is just fine, as well as, the skin on my lower are. I'm so strange.

First Trip to the Dentist

Today was Andrew's first dental visit. He did great for the exam. He opened his mouth real wide for the hygienist, Linda (who is great by the way), to brush and floss his teeth. He even liked it when she squirted water in his mouth and sucked it out. She said his teeth look great, no plaque or other build up, yay! He has all 20 teeth he should have at this age and we will go back in February for his next check up. He just loves his new yellow tooth brush and couldn't make up his mind what prize he wanted when it was all over. He settled for a super ball. Now, I said he did great for the exam, but the wait wasn't so good. He through an ungodly fit in the waiting room because he couldn't "write on the paper", you know all the forms you have to fill out when you get there. He actually plopped down in the floor and was crying. I was so embarrassed. I am sure everyone was thinking that kid is going to be hell for the exam. He's just my little Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde.

Another funny for you. I now know why you aren't suppose to play ball in the house. I had no idea a beach ball could cause so much damage. Last night Andrew was throwing his blow up beach ball to me and Marc when it hit a drinking glass that was sitting on the end table. The glass seemed to explode. I think the ball actually knocked it over and it hit the lamp and broke. There was glass everywhere. Another good reason to have a gate on the stairs, we "locked" Andrew there while we picked up all the glass. Then on my way to the garbage with the broken glass in trash bag, the bag brushed against my led and I got a decent sized cut there. Poor Marc who hates blood had to put band aids on my leg (twice). It still hurts today. UGH!

Follicle Follies

Went in today for yet another follicle scan. Again I have one of the right size, got my shot and now have to play the waiting game. At least this time I didn't have to drive all over the place to find my shot. However, it is still not "the good stuff" and I am convinced that is the problem. Looking on the bright side at least I am making a follicle. We will just have to pray that it works this time. I am getting to know the sonogram tech pretty good by now. Well, I have seen her at least once (sometimes 3 times) a month for the last 8 months.

Friday Funnies

Not too much has been going on this week. After swim lessons were done, I decided to take it easy. In the mean time Andrew has decided that he is going to lick my face every chance he gets. YUCK!! It is partially my fault. I have a thing about saliva and it totally grosses me out. I mean even sitting here typing about it is activating my gag reflex. So, I am assuming that he got this from the dog. Well, it all started with him trying to lick my face once and I started screaming, laughing and trying to push him/hold him away from me. We did this for like 10 minutes and Andrew thought it was the funniest thing he had ever seen. Well, if I was smart, I would have just pretended like nothing was going on, but I didn't. Now he gets this little look on his face and makes the sound "quiiihp" (sort of like a slurp but on the exhale) while trying to climb in my lap. He won't leave me alone. every time I hold him I hear "quiihp quiihp) then see his tongue sticking out. Ewwwww, it is so gross!

His idea that Bruce should be a horse is intensifying. When the dog is sitting or laying on the floor Andrew yells "He-haw!" and will sit on the dog like a horse and rider. Poor Bruce, this is so not good for his back. It is cute though.

Weekend Window

This weekend started off on Thursday when Andrew finished his swim lessons with flying colors. He did really well and can swim under water to the steps and float on his back for quite a while. He finished lessons in 5 weeks, which is great! He really likes to swim and now I feel more comfortable taking him swimming by myself. Who knows, I could have another Michael Phelps on my hands. ;) Speaking of Michael Phelps, wow!!!!! Could you imagine 8 gold medals in one Olympics? I mean think about it, most people don't even win 1!

Friday we went to the Rough Riders game with GAM, Robert, Matthew, and Heather to watch the game and for the fireworks after. Andrew did really good at the game. He loved the fireworks and when Marc said that they were cool, he went around telling everyone that "fireworks cool!". He even told Grandma and Grandad over the phone.

Saturday we went to a birthday party for one of Andrew's friends. He just loves birthday parties and had a blast jumping on all the jumping balloons. The nice part about a party here is that he is so wiped out later on that he goes right to sleep at bedtime. Of course when we got home we finished watching the Olympics.

Finally, I am going to be brave and say that Andrew is potty trained. We have hardly had any accidents and he is really good at telling me when he has to go potty when we are out. Even at the baseball game. He is still pretty young so we will see what happens when he starts MDO.

Can you "speak Whale"?

As I said in an earlier post, Andrew has been watching Finding Nemo a lot lately. Well, apparently he has learned to "speak Whale" from watching it. Or as he says "cow, moo" or "elephant bbbrrrrruuuuuhhhhh". He keeps looking at me and making whale noises with all the inflections and everything. I can't help but laugh. How come he could pick up "Whale" in like 5 days and yet still can barely speak English? ;)

Potty Progress

I am like 97% sure Andrew is potty trained. He has been wearing underwear only for about a week and has been going both #1 and #2 on the potty everyday. He has only had one real accident and cried when it happened, which broke my heart, even though I told him it was ok. After that he was really asking to go potty a lot. That is one reason I am not saying I am 100% sure he is PT. He tells me every time he has to poop, but I realized that I usually just take him potty when I potty and he doesn't "have" to tell me when he needs to go potty. Second, we really haven't gone anywhere for an extended period of time. I mean it has been StrollerFit (about an hour), play dates (about an hour) and so on. He does try and go by himself sometimes. I turn around and he is coming out of the bathroom telling me he pooped. This has its ups and downs. When he gets on the big potty it is fine, everything makes, When he sits on the little potty, which doesn't have a splash guard, he is not always pointing down and will "miss" the potty. Then I have to wipe pee off the floor, or it lands on his shorts and underwear that he took off and left in front of the potty. Over all I am excited and very hopeful! It will be great not buy as many diapers.

I think my kid is "that kid".

We went to Pump It Up Jr. today with a friend and Andrew went crazy! He gets so excited to play with other kids that he wants to hug them until they fall and roll around on the ground holding them. When they jump on the balloons, he wants to jump holding/touching them and he ends up knocking everyone down. UGH! I am afraid he is becoming "that kid" that is just too rough. It seems that no matter what I do or tell him, he just doesn't get/want to play gentle. :(

Then while we were there, he was running and slipped on the carpet and totally fell flat on his face. Poor guy really started crying. He cut his lip on his teeth so of course it started bleeding. Luckily, it didn't last long. He really had a blast and was so worn out he fell asleep on the way home.

"Oh, I know what that is. Sandy Plankton told me. It's...it's a butt"

Andrew watched Finding Nemo the other day. You know that scene where all the little fish see the boat for the first time and call it a butt? Then they dare each other to "go touch the butt". Well, Andrew has decided that he is going to go around telling me "touch the butt", then he touches his butt. Occasionally, he will say "Nemo, touch the butt, ooooo". Andrew, Andrew, Andrew.

Weekend Window

We had a pretty nice weekend. It started off with Andrew and I going to swim at our friend's neighborhood pool. Boy was it nice! It had this whole area at the front of the pool that was like a kiddie area. It was only about 9 inches deep or so and was basically the first step of the pool extending out far into the pool. So, Andrew and the boys got to run around and "swim" there. Well, apparently when I put my spray sun screen on, I missed my entire back and shoulders which inevitably got sunburned. When Marc got home I asked him if I was burnt and showed him my shoulders. Now Andrew goes around showing us his shoulder and saying "I burnt too, shoulder".

Saturday we went to see "Space Chimps". It was not too bad. A lot more action than WALL-e. Andrew did really good and sat pretty much the whole time. Having the popcorn in the cardboard drink holder helps. That night Marc and I started listing to Stephanie Meyer's "Twilight". We had been hearing a whole bunch about the new book in the series, "Breaking Dawn", coming out on Friday so, we decided to get the series on audio. That is the one thing I really miss not getting to do as much now that I have Andrew, is read at will. Marc and I listen to a book every night as we go to bed. It is kind of nice, I get to "read" a book every night, I don't have to strain my eyes, I don't have to stop every five seconds, and we both get to "read" it at the same time. I ended up staying up till like 3:30 am listening to it. I am hooked, I really like it.

Sunday we took Andrew to the pool to practice swimming. It did not go well. He fought us and cried the whole time, even when we were playing. Needless to say we only stayed like 10 min. Then Marc had to go back into work to get ready for his trial (or whatever it was) today. Overall a nice weekend, with just enough to do not to be bored, but not so much that we were needing one more day to recover.

Potty Progress

I think Andrew may be just about potty trained. He has been consistently going #1 and #2 on the potty for the last 3 days and we have not had any accidents either. I haven't gone anywhere, well anywhere really, with him in underwear yet so I can't officially say he is PT'd. It is definitely looking good though. I hope he just doesn't regress! He is probably going to kill me later for posting this picture but it is just so cute. I tried putting him in front of the TV so he'd poop and this is where I took this. However, he would never do it there, only when the p.c. was in the bathroom. He does still ask occasionally for me to bring it out into the loft, mind you, he has to be sitting on it when I do.
